A Prayer for the Baptismal Fellowship

O Father, source of all grace and love, We come before you today in humble prayer, As we gather in this sacred space, To celebrate the gift of baptismal fellowship.

We thank you, O Father, for the waters of baptism, That cleanse and purify our souls, Uniting us with Christ in his death and resurrection, And making us members of your holy family.

We pray, O Father, for all those who are being baptized today, May they feel your presence and love surround them, As they make this sacred commitment to follow you, And live as disciples of your Son, Jesus Christ.

We pray, O Father, for the parents and godparents, Who stand here today as witnesses and guides, Grant them wisdom and strength, To nurture and support these new members of your family.

We pray, O Father, for the entire baptismal fellowship, May we be a community of love and grace, United in our faith and devotion to you, And committed to sharing your love with the world.

O Father, we offer this prayer to you, With hearts full of gratitude and joy, As we celebrate the gift of baptismal fellowship, And commit ourselves anew to your service.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray.
Amen.

Verse: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 This verse represents the prayer as it speaks of the transformation that takes place through baptism. It acknowledges that through baptism, we become new creations in Christ, leaving behind our old selves and embracing a new life in Him. The prayer seeks to embrace and celebrate this truth, and it asks for the parents, godparents, and the entire baptismal fellowship to live out their new identity in Christ and be a community of love and grace. The verse reminds us of the power of baptism and the incredible change that can happen when we surrender our lives to Jesus.
