Is This The Law For You?: Daily Devotional for 15th July, 2025

Could attending a meditation retreat provide an opportunity to discover how your personal understanding of spiritual law resonates with the universal principles that govern our existence?

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
12 I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live;

- Ecclesiastes 3:11-12

Last year, I found myself at a serene meditation retreat nestled in the woods, surrounded by tall trees and the soft hum of nature. Arriving on the first day, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. Participants were encouraged to leave their phones behind, a challenge in today’s connected world. The facilitators led us through gentle breathing exercises, guiding us to settle into stillness. As we closed our eyes, the chatter of our minds faded, and for the first time in a long while, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. The silence was rich and almost palpable, like the calm before a beautiful song begins. During moments of deep meditation, I could feel the rhythm of the universe reverberating within me, as if the retreat was a tuning fork, aligning my spirit to the divine frequency of love and connection.

This experience prompted a profound realization: just like a radio must be fine-tuned to hit the right wave, our hearts and minds also need adjusting to embrace the laws and truths that resonate with our higher selves. The meditation retreat taught me that being still is not merely a passive act; it is an active choice to open oneself to a deeper understanding of life. The law is not just a set of rules to follow; it is about aligning with a higher purpose and understanding what resonates with our true essence. In our daily lives, we often lose sight of what truly matters as we get caught up in the noise. Practicing stillness allows us to hear the gentle whispers of guidance and direction, enabling us to navigate our lives in harmony with the universal truths around us. The law invites us to tune in, listen closely, and respond with love and compassion, serving as a path to our authentic selves.

I felt a mix of excitement and hesitation as I walked into the meditation retreat. Surrounded by nature, the surroundings promised a serene escape from my busy life. Yet, deep down, I wondered if this experience was truly meant for me. Is this something I need? Ecclesiastes 3:11-12 reminds us that God has made everything beautiful in its time. There’s a purpose for every season, and perhaps this retreat was a part of mine. I discovered that the moments of stillness allowed me to hear the gentle whispers of my own heart and the voice of God as the days went by. I noticed that this pause brought clarity and a sense of peace I had been longing for. Ecclesiastes teaches us that He has set eternity in our hearts; this retreat helped me uncover that deeper yearning within myself. The experience was a reminder that sometimes, to find our unique path, we must slow down and listen. Whether it’s a retreat, a quiet time in prayer, or a simple moment of reflection, we each have a special way to connect with God. Is this the law for YOU? Maybe it is time you seek out those moments that draw you closer to Him.
